Our Community

Literacy Begins with Us—And Grows with You

At the heart of the Literate Somalia Project is a vibrant, diverse, and united community—students, parents, teachers, elders, youth, and supporters—all working together to build a future where every Somali child can read and write.

We believe real change starts from the ground up. That’s why we listen first, act with purpose, and always center local voices. From literacy circles in small villages to youth ambassadors in big cities, our community is the movement.

Where Literacy Lives

In every village, every voice, and every volunteer—literacy takes root and grows. Together, we’re building a movement where communities lead the way to a brighter, more educated Somalia.Literacy doesn’t happen in isolation—it grows in classrooms, under trees, in family circles, and through the hands of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. At the Literate Somalia Project, our community is the driving force behind every book delivered, every child taught, and every hope renewed.

From elders mentoring young readers, to youth leading literacy campaigns, to mothers learning alongside their children—this is a shared journey. And when one person learns to read, the entire community takes a step forward.
